The Right Questions to Ask Before Joining a Coworking Space

1.15 MINS READ

To get the right answers we need to ask the right questions in the right way, many of us aren’t clear with the proper way of enquiring when they call a coworking space.

Whenever you call them never straight up ask the price first try to understand the kind of space they have and their service offerings, so how to go about it.

  1. Ask them questions about the community that uses the space, such as: How many people use the space, and what are the types of professions in the space, which will give you an idea of the space’s quality. Always remember a coworking space or any workspace is as good as the community and people that thrive in it. The right space will always attract the right type of clientele.
  2. Ask Them about their work timings, what days they have off, and what festivals they give off to get a clear understanding of whether your work timings and days match or not.
  3. Ask them about their housekeeping situation, and how often do they clean the space, their floors, desks, bathrooms, etc because trust me, this is a make or break for a lot of people and can directly affect your work productivity.
  4. Ask them about their parking facilities whether they have them or don’t have them, and whether you have to pay or not pay because if they don’t have a great parking situation you will waste your time finding parking for yourself rather than getting right to work.
  5. Ask them questions about their infrastructure such as do they have power backups, how many sockets they have, do they provide stationery, and computer hardware, this will help you to get clarity on the kind of work set up you need to be ready with once you start using the space.
  6. Ask them about their ancillary services such as a pantry or a kitchen or a café for your food and beverage needs do they have utility services such as printing, photocopy, etc because these things matter in the long run when you use the space.
  7. Ask them about their pricing structure, do they have set packages, or do they curate a package for you do they have hourly packages, daily passes, monthly, etc?
  8. Ask them questions about their location such as – where is it located? Is it road touching or is it away from the main road, is it a stand-alone building or inside a commercial or a residential building? This will help you understand their space more deeply and always choose spaces that are well connected to the main road and are easy to find.

Above all try an experience the space yourself, because people can say yes to everything just to get you on board but experiencing the space yourself will give you clarity about the actual reality of the vibe, the crowd the ergonomics of using the space, and the team that handles the space. Choose the space only if it resonates with you your working style and you are convinced of the fact that this particular space will help you grow professionally.
